For Immediate Release: March 8, 2010
Initiative helps Title X Agencies reduce Medicaid billing claim denials, conduct cost analysis and find new ways of understanding and streamlining costs.
With a generous grant from the Blue Shield of California Foundation and in collaboration with DHHS/OPA Title X, CFHC is pleased to announce the 2010 Clinic Fiscal Health Initiative.
CFHC is committed to helping agencies implement efficient, smart-business measures. The 2010 Clinic Fiscal Health Initiative is comprised of three primary components:
1. Collaborating with eight Title X Delegate Agency Demonstration Projects to illustrate the effectiveness of these essential, smart-business measures.
2. Helping agencies to significantly reduce Medicaid billing claim denials.
3. Training agency staff to conduct thorough and meaningful cost analysis of services.
Demonstration Projects
Eight agencies applied and were awarded a small stipend to participate in an intensive analysis of their billing and costs. The Demonstration Projects will be participating in both a March billing claim denials webinar and an April cost analysis workshop.
By August 2010, the eight Demonstration Projects will share their experiences and findings. Lessons learned will be shared with all Title X Delegate Agencies in a webinar to be held in October.
Reduce Medicaid Billing Claim Denials
Medicaid billing claim denials can account for significant losses in revenues. CFHC will host a webinar on March 29, 2010 that will guide financial and billing staff through a billing claim denial self-assessment. This process will help agencies identify where the issues may be that are causing them to receive denials and lose earned revenue.
Conduct a Cost-Analysis
To run effectively, individual programs need to document the cost of providing services. A cost analysis provides the information needed in order to develop, implement and analyze efficiencies. It helps agencies find out if and where they are losing money.
CFHC will offer a free full-day workshop on April 7, 2010 to selected staff of the eight Demonstration Projects, as well as to staff of other Delegate Agencies as space allows.
